Quick Summary

The business supply chain model (created in 1982) describes how raw materials go all the way from extraction from the Earth to a finished retail product in the hands of paying customers. It’s useful because it helps businesses create value.

While helpful, this model was designed for the physical world. Given that more and more of the goods we buy and produce are digital, we need to ask ourselves what the supply chain is for knowledge products, which are innately digital. Until now, there hasn’t been a standard answer that thought leaders can use.

With that said, here is the Thought Leadership Model that Eben and I have refined from our experience as thought leaders who have collectively sold $100 million in digital courses and coined dozens of phrases that have spread to tens of millions of people:

Increasingly, thought leadership is becoming an important aspect of career success, whether you’re an employee or an entrepreneur. The steps we present in this mastery manual are ultimately the 20% of skills that will give you 80% of results as a thought leader. It’s essential to be at least competent in each of the skills.
