Quick Summary
Polarity Map is one of the models we talked about as a part of the Mental Model Summit #1 we held back when the coronavirus pandemic was in full swing.
It’s a very simple model.
When you're talking about an issue, there are always two sides, and there's a pro and con to each side. That’s pretty basic.
Typically, people who believe in point A only focus on the positives of their side and on the negatives of the other side, which leaves them with blind spots.
It’s the same with the other side: people who believe in point B cannot see the positives of point A or the negatives of their own view.
On each issue where there's a polarity, the opportunity is to see both sides of the polarity. It’s about collecting information, being open to hearing “the other side,” and actually being actively open-minded by going out and searching for opposing perspectives.
